I don’t know about you but I love exploring local farmers markets, it reminds me of my time visiting Spain. So much fresh produce and delicious food to try. Most places offer samples and it’s a great way to support small businesses and entrepreneurs. Dan and I have been going on dates to the Farmer’s Markets since early on in our relationship. I love scouting out fresh produce to include in our weekly meal plans and Dan loves finding fresh juices (preferably orange).
This weekend Dan and I visited the Yellow Green Farmers Market in Hollywood. For starters this place is huge! Nothing like the small markets that are set up in parks throughout Miami. They had a large variety of fruits and vegetables from different vendors as well as handmade fashion and jewelry. But aside all that they have an array of small cafes that rival Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival in variety.
My favorite was Lokal Moko, a Hawaiian cafe owned by a husband and wife. They opened after visiting Hawaii and finding there weren’t any authentic Hawaiian locations back home in South Florida to fulfill their cravings. We heard of them through Yelp and came out to the market just to give them a try. I’m so glad we did because THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL! Fresh poke, maui waui wings, and pineapple coleslaw… they have something for everyone. They’re attention to detail was easily noted and we’ll definitely be back to try more.
For dessert we tried Pink Pie. Their mini pies are the perfect size to satisfy a sweet tooth without overindulging. I recommend the Nutella Oreo pie!
We easily spent the whole day at the market and even brought some goodies home for later. We chose to spend money on this date but you could go to a market and just sample the offerings and not spend a dime.
I’d love to know what great places have you ventured to on dates recently?
